Stuck In The middle

Hey guys, so BLG played a little clip of Stuck In The Middle yesterday on their live chat!

They also gave out backstage passes to a random girl who was challenged to eat all her bananas. They are hosting another food challenge: 10 hotdogs plus the buns in 5 minutes. Be on next Tuesday morning if you're keen. (I'm actually not too sure if this 'contest' is open internationally.)

Remember them?

There have been many rumours with regards to the existence of the band right now, and honestly, there are just too many for me to believe in. Wikipedia, as usual, is the main culprit of my heartbreak.

But now that we’ve heard from Bryan that BLG’s gonna be making a statement soon, and I quote, ‘good and bad statements’, I really don’t know what to think of now.

I’ve never really put too much thought into the past rumours because they were unsupported. But this time, coming from one of the band members himself, I don’t know anymore.

It was purely by chance that I stumbled on their music. I had just gotten out of a ‘holy’ point in my life where I stuck to Christian music for almost a whole year. I decided that I needed more music in my life, so I asked my friend to recommend me a few.

She told me to check out Thunder, and so I did, and I liked it. I then went on to look at their other singles and I decided that I liked their music and style. So I went and downloaded the entire Boys Like Girls album. I really,really, fell in love with Hero/Heroine. That song is my ultimate BLG jam. I just feel all the feelings when I listen to that song.

Oh boy, that really started everything. I fell in love. I just couldn’t help but love every single one of their songs in their debut album. This was also around the time when Martin set up his website (which has been shut down now), Martin Says.

It felt so real you know, the connection? At some point he was doing Q&As on his comment field and everything was perfect. He answered two of my questions, I remember. I asked him what colour his eyes really were, and what his favourite colour was.

It was great, the interactivity. I also met some of the local fans through his site and we added each other on Twitter after that.

And that was when everything started coming together. It started out with a handful of us, and everything got bigger just as BLG began touring and working on their second album. I started The Martin Sayers, and we really just became really good friends. They make the fangirling so, so much better.

BLG was really on during those times. They created Twitter accounts and had studio updates and made the effort to reach out to their fans. We hung on to them like our very last breath.

We were all anticipating the release of Read Between The Lines, their concert DVD, and that was the first release from the band that the group of us got to experience together. And boy it was great. It was the next best thing to seeing them live.

Love Drunk was in the process of being cut, and there was just SO MUCH ANTICIPATION we nearly died. We waited three years for it.

I remember the night Love Drunk was released on their MySpace page. We went berserk. I was in tears and my body was humming in excitement. We were all of course, keyboard smashing on Twitter at the same time. It was a glorious moment.

Subsequently, three other singles were released/performed and we scrambled to get the lyrics to the songs when no one else had heard it. Suffice to say we blew our eardrums out thanks to Martin’s diction.

Then came the release of Love Drunk. Oh my god I had never been so excited for my CD to arrive. We all pre-ordered our albums so that we could get them signed. Sad to say there wasn’t enough to go around.

The hype that followed Love Drunk was mind blowing. They continued touring and producing music videos and that really attracted more into our group. The size of the fanbase ballooned pretty steadily on those months.

THEN. The day came. The day we all died in BLG heaven. It was a sunny Saturday morning, I recall. I was still sleepy-eyed as I read my Twitter feed and the newspapers. Then I saw the advertisement:‘BOYSLIKEGIRLS In Singapore.’ omg I squealed and immediately began texting Jesslyn and whoever wasn’t awake yet and OH MY GOD. That day could never have had been more perfect.

28 January 2010. The first day of JC, and also, the night I would see my first love live. That night was PERFECT. Other than the bitchy foreigners in the pit, EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. I cried and sang my heart out that night. I was truly happy. I wish I could go back to that moment.

The months after that were as exciting as the first few. We got on the radio and heard their songs play almost every week. Videos on YouTube reminded us of how good they are live, and their random tour videos were hilarious. They were living their dream, and I was truly proud of them.

Slowly but surely, their hype began to die down. They announced that they were going to produce the third album soon, but then they also said that they were going on hiatus after their epic tours. And I respected that. I continued to keep track of their activities, but soon it became too hard to keep in contact with them. They stayed away from Twitter, MySpace and even Martin Says.

I suppose I never wanted to acknowledge the possibility of them breaking up because that just couldn’t happen. They were having so much fun on tour and wouldn’t they want to do it for a living?

But now all these talk about their silence, I really don’t know. I cannot live with a break up, nor a member quitting. Even if they reform with different members, I don’t think I will love them as much as I love the original band.

I suppose all I have for now are my posters and albums to keep me going.

I hope to hear from you soon, boys. Good or bad, your fans deserve to know what lies in the future, after waiting for so long.

There hasn't been much news so far, but one thing I heard is that Mark Bright, a producer, has been spending time with him. He plans to produce his album after finished Scotty McCreery's.

BLG's Side Projects

Hey guys!

After such a long time, we finally have news on what the boys have been up to!

The boys have mentioned that they're taking a break from touring together, and are pursuing their own little side projects in the mean time. No worries though, they have not broken up or anything. In fact, it was mentioned that they have already prepared demos for the new album! Exciting or what!

Here's a breakdown on what has been going on:

Bryan
Our favourite blondie has been working hard on his new band Early Morning Blues. (Click the link to listen to their demos!) Bryan is in fact, singing! We've all heard his smashing vocals in Boys Like Girls, but what do you think about him writing and leading?

Bryan and his band are currently touring in the US.

John
Guess what? John is also in a band! He founded the band REBELS (@officialREBELS) and is also currently touring. I haven't heard much from him though. Their website is un-navigatable to me. Check it out: REBELS

Paul
Paul, however, has been up to something different! He has started his own label Black Carbon Custom! His line quite obviously reflects his dress-sense with the colour black and skulls all over. Not my cup of tea, really. But we wish him all the best!

Martin
Oh our favourite boy has been really, really secretive with his comings and goings. Until quite recently, the only thing I knew about him was his craze for planking. HOWEVER, we bring you sexciting news!

Martin Johnson has decided to pursue a solo career in his free time! He debuted his new songs at KISS 96.1FM's Say Hello To Summer Bash!/Earthfest 2011 and even mentioned that his solo EP will drop sometime this summer! (You know what that means... It's NOW!)

Words cannot express how excited we were when I found out. Lyrics for his two new songs will come out in the next update!

Hi guys, I know it's been long.

Sad to say, we haven't really heard much from the boys on Twitter or Martinsays. All we heard were some ridiculous rumours about them breaking up and Martin being a father. John has denied the rumour about them disbanding, so we can all be relieved.

Firstly, let me apologize for the lack of updates on this site. It's mainly because I'm really, really busy now with school and that Boys Like Girls hasn't had that much of a social life with us either.

I know many of you are wondering what's going on with the GoMerch spree we did months ago. Natalie is currently still trying to sort out the order with VPost, as they are somehow not able to verify the order. It's gonna take a while to fix this, and we ask for your patience. Just to keep you guys posted, I'm going to start a TMS shirt design vote soon, and hopefully get it made by June. I'll prolly only choose 1 or 2 designs so we can standardize, and make it cheaper to get it done in bulk too.

Hey guys!

My church is open for jamming next Saturday (27th Feb), from 3-6pm! It's gonna be a once in a month thing.

My church is Queenstown Baptist Church. Nearest MRT's Queenstown. It's about 5 minutes' walk away.

Since none of us know when the boys are flying in (and if you do, please, SHARE.) so i decided to do a little digging. I went to the Singapore Airlines website and searched for Wednesday's flights from Manila. They are flying in from Manila right?

I'm gonna prepare a book only for TMS, to be given to the boys. I don't know how I'll get it to them, but worse come to worst, I'll just throw it onstage after the gig.

Please prepare what you wanna say. I'll be bringing the book with me, and you guys can choose to either type out what you guys wanna say and send it to me, or do it there, handwritten.

I'd strongly recommend for you to send me, coz I don't know how much time we'll have to write everything there. But if you feel like your's NEEDS to be handwritten, all the best. (Please bring your own pens, I know how sometimes you're a stickler for colours.)

The book will have some of our pictures that we took together. (Or only one. -.-) I'll also include the newspaper/magazine articles they have appeared it. I'll try to be extensive.

Also, I'm thinking of adding a DVD/CD at the back, filled with our covers of their songs we did. :D It's still tentative.

Please send it to me by Wednesday night to be included. Not too late please.

Compass Ballroom.

Hey guys!

So you might have heard that the Compass Ballroom isn't built yet and that's true.
My Mum called the Resorts World yesterday and turns out the Compass Ballroom is built inside Hard Rock Hotel or somewhere near it.
And good news, Hard Rock opens on the TWENTIETH OF JANUARY!
Just in time for the concert!

But it means the concert will be indoor huh?
Damn.

Anyway, they also said that you can go to Hard Rock by alighting at Imbiah and taking a bus to Hard Rock.
There's a station that lets you alight right at the Resorts World area but it isn't open yet.
Thus, the bus.

I'm going to go Sentosa again soon and try to poke around and take some photos.

Maybe we'll meet at the MRT station, I think it's easier. It's within walking distance, don't worry.

There's a McDonald's on the way, if anyone's wondering.

So anyway, they provide 3 mics, 2 electric guitars, 1 bass (who can play it?) and a drum set. We can bring our own acoustic guitars.

Does anyone want to bring any instrument? Tell me please. I can bring my acoustic, but I'm going for a movie before that and I don't really wanna lug it around, heh. Oh, they need to have pickups, coz I honestly doubt we can hear anything if we don't plug it in.

Well, the new layout was long overdue, and since I was so high over their "I Gotta Feelin'" intro for their concerts, I cashed in on it.

Please ignore the lines, they piss me off too. I know they're disjointed, but I don't know how to fix it.

Boys Like Girls Interviews

Heya guys, got three articles of Boys Like Girls i found .
The first two are from L!ME magazine, they're not on sale anymore cause this is from last year.
The second interview may seem crumple - ish, cause it is.
My friend accidentally crushed it and threw it away, and later when i asked her where my BLG articles were she said she didn't see them and then she realized she had thrown them away . And she screamed then i screamed then my Mum screamed ( for us to shut up ) .
Ah , you get the point .

They spelled John 's name wrongly . It 's not Johnny for god sake !

JUNK Magazine is still on sale . I got mine at Page One for 4 . 50 ! :D
