Martin Johnson announced that the band had begun to record their new album on his website on February 10, 2009. The album is set to be released in September 2009 and is being recorded half in Vancouver and half in New York City because there are two different producers/production teams, two different environments, and two different styles of inspiration. The first two singles from the album will be released consecutively on July 6 and 7, 2009. The first single will be Love Drunk, followed by Missed Calls. Kerrang! magazine have also stated that the album would be The Most Anticipated Album Of Summer 2009. The band's frontman, Martin Johnson, have also stated that the new album would be featuring their collaborations with pop/rock bands We The Kings and Stereo Skyline!
Pop/R&B singer Chris Brown has also stated that he would be on back vocals on the track "Just, Waiting For You" in the 'Love Drunk' deluxe album. The album would be available worldwide for download on iTunes, 16th Sep. A deluxe edition of the Love Drunk studio album would be featured and released through iTunes exclusively only on 2nd,3rd and 4th Oct. It would feature an acoustic cover of The All-American Rejects single, "Gives You Hell", by the band's frontman Martin Johnson.
On June 18, Boys Like Girls confirmed the title and release date for their second album. It will be called Love Drunk and will be released September 8, 2009.

The single 'Love Drunk' will go to radio on July 6th, said AbsolutePunk.net on May 28th. Rumoured titles have been spread but it hasn't been verified yet. Some of these titles include : Love Is Not A Great Song, Party's Going On and Past-Times Sweethearts. The second single Missed Calls would be aired on radio on July 7th, a day after the air of Love Drunk the single.
